Hello I'm back!
This is some of what I have been doing since August.. Plus three cuddle quilts that I will post pics later. And there is the King size quilt which I hope to get a pic of today.. It was a labor of joy for a friend who is a 4th stage breast cancer survivor.. She has made quilts to give away and over a hundred pillowcases she has given away.. Plus only keep a lap size quilt she gave to her husband earlier this year for a present. She is an amazingly strong and generous woman.. My hat is off to Diana..
So the bottom quilt was started hand piecing riding the train to and from New Orleans.. It is wacky and impromptu.. The flying witch and the Christmas tree done just because..Like I truly needed another project.. But it These things gave me a break in between piecing hundreds of triangles and flying geese blocks.. Did I count .. Only when I designed the king size quilt.. and then somehow needed more.. But had 18 or so left .. Figured that was pretty good for a dream in my head..
The orange and black thing is from Phyllis's house.. Found blocks sent to me.. So I just played with them still I got them together.. Don't measure it slants out three inches from one side to the other.. Not a judged quilt.. It will go somewhere where they won't care about perfection. Used scraps of batting and a flannel backing.. It will be a real cuddlier. The blocks one the top of my little design wall thingy are just scraps.. I try every day to make just one scrap block.. Some days I win the game and others not so much.. But when there is a stack I can play.. And another donation quilt for somewhere is born.. Right now I'm working on 4 neonatal donation quilts.. They test me more than the big things do.. 17 to 18 by 27.. inches.. What can you dream up for that size.. tiny blocks or one large block edged with boarders.. So many choices..
I am making a resolution early.. Blog at least once a week..Can't figure out how to upload pics from my ipad.. New skills to learn..
Oh, and hand quilting once a week with Lydia's quilters.. So much fun.. holes in my finger.. even put the needle thru the top of my finger..sewing once self into a quilt literally.. Laughing so many calluses that didn't even bleed.. Now that is some hard working fingers..
So for now off to bake some bread and machine quilt some more on the black and orange thing..
What's to come a circle block quilt in batiks.. Oh, it is different of course..
Draft forgotten found.
The number of Tennessee blocks slowly increases. The size of the quilt increases also. It will be interesting to see how small or big this gets.. So many quilts so little time.
The tease of spring has been great this week. Friends daffodils are blooming and my forsythia is starting to flower and the cherry trees are throwing out there pinkness. We have weed and fed our little plot of hilly grass. Need more workable time in a day..
